Google Page Rank

Google's page rank is a number between 0 and 10 that google uses to determine the value of a webpage. Higher the number for a page is higher the importance of the page.

You can see the rank of a webpage in the google's toolbar in your browser. If you don't have Google Toolbar installed in your PC, you can install it from the following URL:

Once the toolbar is installed, it will be displayed in the toolbar section of Internet Explorer. One of the icons present on the toolbar is Page Rank. It is a horizontal gray bar, with a portion filled with green based on the rank. If you do not see the Page Rank icon in the toolbar, perform the following instruction:

1. Right-click on the google's toolbar.
2. On the popup menu, put the mouser over "Show Button".
3. From the sub-menu, click on "PageRank and Page Info".

PageRank button will appear on the toolbar now.

Now you browse any page in Internet Explorer. The PageRank icon will display you the rank of the page currently open in your browser. Put the mouse over the icon, and a tooltip will appear with the exact Page Rank of the page.

I have attached a screenshot of PageRank icon with it's popped-up tooltip.

When a client asks for this: "REMEMBER THAT THE PAGE RANK OF THE PAGE WHERE YOUR LINKS APPEARS MUST BE 6 OR HIGHER. IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE WE WILL NOT PAY FOR THE POST. PLEASE ONLY DO THIS POST IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT GOOGLE PAGE RANK IS."

It means that you will have to add link of their website only to those websites that have page ranks of 6 or higher. Adding links to any website will not be counted.

How to increase page rank of a website?

Page rank of a webpage depends on many factors. The exact formula google applies is not disclosed. However, it is a general understanding that the following factors effect the page ranks of a website:

1. HTML code structure and Meta tags used in the page
2. Content of the page
3. Number of visitors to the page
4. Average number of pages each visitor visits
5. Number of other sites linking to this page
6. Page ranks of those sites that links to this page
7. Outbound links (links to other websites found in this page)
8. Overall site visitors (including other pages)
9. How frequently the content of the page is updated, etc.

I hope this information will help you get a basic idea of google page rank.

I don't have much idea about the site www.shorttask.com. However, I have some experience in working on freelance projects of www.elance.com. This is a wonderful site for freelance works. I have seen many Bangladeshi programmers bidding here as well. Don't only focus on jobs like link building or search engine optimization. Try to focus on designing validated HTML pages from provided image layout, or other programming related projects. Start with small ones, and then go for bigger. First focus on building a very good profile. You will then get clients consistently.

Feel free to ask me any relevant questions you have.

Convey my salam to Herok.

Best wishes.
