Natalie Portman maybe replacing Angelina Jolie

Hollywood is buzzing today with the news that Natalie Portman has been the actress asked to replace Angelina Jolie in a new science-fiction film, "Gravity." Jolie first passed on the eighty million dollar project from Warner Bros. back in February, but the studio kept trying to talk the actress into the role while searching for another actress, She has now said no once again after a second offer, so Warner Bros. has moved on. They believe they have found their replacement. She just needs to say yes!

According to Slash Film, the role has been offered to Natalie Portman. She didn't even need to test for the role after the studio saw the early reviews for her next film, "Black Swan." Over the last week, Portman has been screening that film effort with her first stop being Venice's Film Festival last week. People are talking about this role as a departure from her usual girl next door image.

A strong female lead was needed for "Gravity" due to its high budget, and the fact that the character will appear on screen during a majority of the film. Other actresses looked at for the film project included Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson. "Gravity" is set for production next year, and Portman has the final script in her hands now. She should make a decision shortly.

If she says no, what will become of the science-fiction thriller? Will Warner Bros. scrap "Gravity" with no big name actress to carry the film? Is Natalie Portman even in the league of Angelina Jolie and a suitable replacement for the film?
